Breast Implants Point Cook
One of the most popular plastic surgery procedures is breast augmentation and it is easy to understand why. Women want attractive breasts, they are an important part of self-image. Every woman deserves to feel good about themselves for themselves, and breast implants can not only raise self-esteem but also be a life transforming experience.
Maybe you feel that your breasts are too small, out of proportion to your body, asymmetric or do they sag after having children? We can help! We have many clients that have been very happy following their procedure with us and it may very well be the perfect solution for you too.
Breast augmentation has been around since the very first surgery in 1895. Since then there have been many changes in techniques and procedures with more significant improvements in recent years. Better implants and refined techniques mean that the end results are much better, complications are reduced, shorter hospital stays are the norm and a shorter recovery time means an earlier return to normal activities.
About breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation improves the shape and enhances the size of women’s breasts with the use of implants. It can also be used to correct a slight sagging of the breast, increase breast firmness and even to recreate a breast following a mastectomy.
There are some important questions that you need to consider before breast augmentation surgery:
- Saline filled or cohesive silicone gel filled implants
- Textured surface or smooth implants
- Round or teardrop (anatomical) shaped implants
- Placement of the implants in front or behind the pectoral muscle
- Approach under the breast, through the armpit or around the areola
- The size of the implant including volume, projection, height and width
- Are you a Suitable Candidate for Breast Implants?
The first step is to book a consultation with Dr Rahdon and openly talk to him about what you would like to achieve and your expectations. This would include such things as the breast size, the shape of the breast that you would like, the amount of cleavage you would like and the final position of the nipple.
Dr Rahdon will discuss with you whether you are a suitable candidate for breast augmentation and walk you through the range of available implants to help you decide on the one that would be right for you. The actual procedure is generally a day surgery taking approximately 1½ hours under general anaesthesia, occasionally an overnight stay in hospital is required
How long is the recovery time after surgery?
Directly after the procedure you can wear a soft bra and you will feel a little sore for the next few days. It is suggested that if you work a week’s leave is a good idea for recovery and it will be 4 weeks before a return to your exercise routine is advisable.
You may experience slight swelling or bruising that lasts several weeks and Dr Rahdon will provide you with medication to deal with any ensuing discomfort.
Will there be a scar?
When you talk to Dr Rahdon about your procedure you will talk the placement of the scar and where you would prefer it. Most commonly it is located in under the breast but can be in the underarm or around the edge of the nipple.
What about complications?
Complications are not unknown but are rare for breast implant surgery. Our surgeries are all performed in modern hospital facilities rather than a doctor’s office, which can provide you with confidence in case of difficulty.
When you first consult with Dr Rahdon all of the potential risks will be explained prior to you booking your procedure and again afterwards to make sure that you feel fully informed.
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for cosmetic surgery and Dr Rahdon will not perform a surgery unless he is convinced that the benefits significantly outweigh the risks for the patient.
